Stuckey Mitsubishi’s Tips to the Perfect Penn State Tailgate

Here at Stuckey Mitsubishi, we do more than just sell new and used Mitsubishis at the best prices in State College - we're one of Penn State's biggest fans too! That's right, the Stuckey family bleeds white and blue through and through, that's why we're going to tell you how to tailgate like a pro in your Mitsubishi at Beaver Stadium.

Once you read through our list of tips, you'll be ready to support the Nittany Lions in full force this football season and with one of our incredible used Mitsubishis - you can tailgate in style too. Before you hit Beaver Stadium with the crew, here is a list of important things you want to do.

Preparation is Key

As with most things, preparation is the key to having a great time. That's why it's crucial to load up your Mitsubishi with everything you need before you head on down to Beaver Stadium to start your tailgate. If you want to have a great Penn State tailgate, here are some of the things you should bring to ensure you have the best experience.

A good piece of advice no matter where you're going or what you're doing, bringing water is essential to having a good time. During the early parts of the football season, Beaver Stadium can see temperatures into and above 90 degrees which can quickly cause dehydration. Having a solid supply of water on hand is a great way to combat high temperatures, dehydration and thirst. As always, if you're drinking out of a bottle or can, do your part and lend a helping hand by keeping your tailgate space clean.

Whether it's a clear sunny day or a torrential downpour, if you're planning to tailgate in State College, bringing a canopy is a must. A canopy provides cover from bad weather and makes your tailgate party easy to find - you can even sport one with a Nittany Lion logo on it.

If you do decide to bring a canopy, we recommend one with easy set-up and teardown so you can maximize your tailgating time. Looking for a canopy? Visit our neighbor Dunham's Sports located right next door in Nittany Mall, there you are sure to find a great deal on a canopy as well as a variety of other sporting goods and outdoor gear. The next time you need gear for your tailgate, stop by Dunham's Sports, and don't forget to tell them their pals at Stuckey Mitsubishi sent you.

Trash Bags

Any good tailgate at Beaver Stadium is filled with plenty of food, drinks and fun - which means there will be plenty of garbage in the aftermath. Nobody likes a dirty stadium parking lot and it gives one of the best student sections in college sports a bad reputation. That's why one of the best things you can do for yourself and all other Penn State fans is to bring some trash bags to clean up after yourself.

Having a few handy trash bags or even a trash bin at your tailgate is both simple and cheap to do and it keeps Beaver Stadium looking pristine. If you're going to have a proper tailgate at Penn State, be sure to follow this simple tip.

Bring Extra Clothing

Whether its a cold winter game or one on a hot summer day, it's always a smart idea to bring extra clothing to a Penn State game. From spilling a drink on your favorite Posluszny jersey to getting a bit too hyped up and ripping through a t-shirt, you never know what a tailgate party at Beave Stadium could bring so its best to come prepared. Having an extra set of clothes is an easy way to have a great game day while cheering on the Nittany Lions to victory.

Another helpful thing to have while tailgating in your Mitsubishi is a tarp. The weather can get a little crazy up in State College, so it's best to have a way to quickly cover your valuables in a pinch. If you own an Outlander, you can even tie a tarp to the rear hatch in its open position for an easy makeshift canopy cover.

Tarps come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are easily folded for quick storage. Whether you drive a Mirage G4 or an Outlander PHEV, having a few tarps stored away in your vehicle will come in handy on more than just gameday.

Have Your Tickets Ready

While this isn't as much a tailgating tip as it is a gameday tip, having your tickets ready can save you a ton of headaches before kickoff. If you're flying solo at the game, then this tip is as simple as ensuring you have a physical ticket or a digital one ready to go.

However, if you're with a group, you're going to want to make sure to split up the tickets before getting in line. This makes life easier for everyone and avoids any issues that may arrive if the person with all the tickets is delayed or unable to get to the game. With digital tickets, we suggest transferring the tickets before gameday so you can avoid any potential cellular service mishaps before the big day.

Having your tickets ready may seem like a no-brainer but it's easy to forget when you're in the incredible atmosphere of Beaver Stadium. By following this simple tip you can ensure you'll have the full Penn State experience with no hiccups or mishaps.

Be Respectful

A great way to live life and an important component of having a great tailgate party is being respectful. Be respectful to your tailgate neighbors, fans of the opposing team and the environment while tailgating at Beaver Stadium. While it is a football game that can bring out strong emotions, it is important to stay respectful while tailgating or attending the game so all fans can have a great time.

Part of being respectful is remembering to be polite to opposing fans, families of players and anyone else you come across while attending a Nittany Lions game. Along with this, cleaning up after your tailgate party is a great way to show respect for the environment as well as the incredible staff that makes all Penn State games happen.

If you plan on tailgating at a Nittany Lion game soon, remember to bring food, friends, a jersey and your respect too - this will ensure an experience of a lifetime.

Pay Ahead for Parking

Gameday at Beaver Stadium can get hectic and parking fills up FAST. If you don't want to have to squeeze your Eclipse Cross into a space made for a Mirage G4, then paying ahead for parking is a no-brainer. Since we're talking about tailgating, paying ahead for parking guarantees you a spot and allows you to skip the long entrance lines, giving you more time for tailgating fun.

You can purchase up to three advanced single-game parking passes per account, per game at Penn State's website. The going rate for the 2022-2023 season is around $15/car and $60/RV for those who purchase a pass in advance, those who wait until gameday will pay a premium of $40/car and $120/RV. If you purchased your car here at Stuckey Mitsubishi, it's safe to assume you like to save money, that's why we suggest paying ahead for parking at Beaver Stadium.
